Cinema Na Vila Autódromo

Thursday, August 10th 7:30 pm

Cinema na Vila Autódromo (Cinema of Vila Autodromo) is a series of films produced by and about the supporters and residents of Vila Autódromo detailing their struggle against their village’s displacement by the developers of Rio de Janiero’s 2016 Olympic Village in Barra de Tijuca.

Los Angeles-based artist Nancy Popp presents this screening in conjunction with her and the Museu das Remoções’s current installation as part of the Orange County Museum of Art’s 2017 CA-Pacific Triennial.

These five short films have been produced by and about the supporters and residents of Vila Autódromo, and detail the struggle against their community’s displacement by the developers of the Olympic Village in Barra De Tijuca.

There will be a short informal discussion post-screening with the audience and members of LA Tenants Union and the newly-launched NOlympicsLA campaign.
